Why settle for store-bought when you can turn your backyard into a pizzeria? Crafting your DIY pizza oven is simpler than you think and adds a touch of magic to your homemade pizzas.
Materials Needed
- Two terracotta flower pots (one larger, one smaller)
- Grill grate
- Thermometer
- Handles and hinges
How to Assemble
First you will need to clean your flower pots and make sure they don’t have any debris on them. Next, put your grill grate inside the larger of your two flower pots to act as a stable cooking place for your pizza. Attach handles to the larger pot to ensure you can still move it easily. Attach hinges to the smaller one so that it can act as a lid whilst cooking. Place your thermometer through the smaller pot’s lid so that you can monitor the cooking temperature.
How to Use
You can either use wood or charcoal to get your pizza oven going. You will want to get your pizza oven very hot to about 700°F (370°C), to get a really crispy crust. Once it is hot, you can slide your pizza onto the grill plate. Keep monitoring the temperature, and turn the pizza every couple of minutes. You should be able to make delicious pizzas with a crispy crust and smoky flavor. Enjoy!
